While we're making the game more realistic by making blindess really turn the screen black, lets change a few more aspects of the game to make it more realistic:

1- When using the skill Migrane, your screen should start spinning around as if you really have a migrane.

2- When using the skill Decapitate, the head of your target should go flying off into the air. Like a headless chicken, the remaining body will continue to fight for several seconds, before it drops to the ground.

And one thing I never understood about blindess, why can't I just give my char some protective goggles, which protect the eyes?

What difference does it make if players decide "right, we're going to blind this character all game", and that players interface gets blacked out or their character cant target!
quite a lot.

did you even think of what you were saying before you wrote any of this?

i doubt it.

you want it so you cant target if blinded? i really just have no idea what to say. that is quite possibly the worst idea i've ever heard on these forums, which is saying A LOT.

I agree that there could be some sort of effect for blindness.

While you're blind the world around you could be grayed out, much like when your character dies...

Simply temporally black out the screen, except the interface and text-balloons.

However, If ANET add it as an option that you can turn on from the Graphics menu, I don't see a problem with that.

The screen could go a little darker, like lowering gamma or maybe fade to black and white or something but either way, it should be purely optional because in the end, it's only your character that's blinded, not you who are controlling him.

You can see the drunk effect when your character is drunk, so how does that make sense by your logic?
Being drunk is just something for fun and not real part of the game.

Blindness happens and stops so fast you dont always notice.
Pay MOAR attention.

If you make the screen black out that renders the game unplayable, unless you have everything memorized which im sure 80% of us dont. At most it just needs to stand out more like larger and darker plumes of DARKNESS rather than the "smokey" effect it has now.

Don't forget that people can just turn off post-processing effects to get rid of it if they do it the same way as drunk effects. Players who don't even have the toggle enabled won't see it at all.

Some kind of effect would be pretty cool since we don't see enough throughout the game. There were some on the starter island in Nightfall but I don't remember seeing any after that.

Blacking out the screen isn't very impressive, if someone threw dirt into your eyes things wouldn't suddenly turn pitch black. They should use some heavy distortion or tint the entire screen a dark color.

You have a point there.
Visibility on the screen should be reduced to 90% only, which is the same as the 90% miss-rate "blindness" currently inflicts.

But, with the principle of blindness not having evolved through the metagame for years, it would be better to reserve this concept of "a more realistical blindness" for GW2.

Blindness would be the most powerful thing if it blacked out the screen.

If you're that much for it, pay someone to come poke a stick in your eyes everytime someone uses blinding flash.

Can a mod close this thread? Every time I read it (and I dont' know why I do) I think the world has come to an end. The idiocy in this topic astounds me. Please make it stop.

I'm sorry, but that is so entirely uncalled for. The OP's suggestion has been tried and tested in many, many games that have both previously been, and currently are out.

While you may not agree to seeing it in GW, (which it seems no one does, and I myself was against) is no reason to call 'idiocy' on the OP. It's a good suggestion, although in my opinion inappropriate for the type of game GW is.

Well everyones welcome to their opinion, but are you suggesting that its really obvious when your blinded?

I cant say I ever really notice when I am, unless you happen to look at what enchants are on you.

I personally only notice when I have cripple on me because I limp, and I notice i have slow effect on me because I obviously slow down.

But you have no evidence of being blinded aside from the enchant icon on you, which you can miss if your in the heat of a fight and you have 10 other effects on you.

Whether it be blacking the screen out, or adding a blind animation, it would just be nice to have an effect added to make you realise if your blinded.

Even if your character stumbles about waving their hands because they cant see.... anything would be nice.
